Andrea
Frova
Born in Venice, Andrea Frova received his degree in Physics at the University
of Pavia in 1959. Formerly a Research Associate at the University of Illinois
and a Member of Staff at AT&T Bell Labs in Murray Hill (N.J.), was a long-term
visitor at the Universities of Stuttgart, California and Federal Polytechnic
of Lausanne. He also taught in the Italian universities of Pavia, Messina, Modena.
At present he is full professor of General Physics at the University of Rome "La
Sapienza", where he also teaches Musical Acoustics. His research has mostly
been concerned with solid-state spectroscopy, semiconductor nanostructures, solar
cells, laser optics and in later times psychoacoustics.He has published over
300
articles and several books, part of them dealing with popularization of physical
sciences. He has been a Vice President of IUPAP (International Union of Pure
and
Applied Physics) from 1990 to 1996.
